a-day-in-the-head-of-rapa:

Just thought I would just share a quick snippet of what God has been speaking to me recently.
This blog goes out to all you worriers out there; those whose autopilot response to tasks or situations are ones of stress, fear and frustration!

This may not come to a surprise to you but here is what I am realising more and more - I am a huge worrier.

Everyday comes with surprises, challenges, plenty of stuff to do, expectations, pressures etc. My mind becomes full of tasks and deadlines so quickly. Pressures of things that need to be done are very much felt and instead of finding enjoyment in anything, I find myself fighting the urge to run away from things and just hide.

Not only do I feel the pressure in the daily tasks or areas where God is leading me out of comfort zones but I am feeling the pressure of raising finances to see a plane ticket home paid for, I see the up and coming fees for a counselling school I am doing in October and I am seeing the current debt I am facing as a staff member with insufficient support to cover my monthly accommodation and fees (all staff members in YWAM do not receive a wage but instead trust God to cover their living costs, to enable as much money as possible to go into the nations).

What does God say about all of this when I ask Him.

'Don't worry, be happy - every little thing is going to be alright'

'You're beautiful, do you know that?'

'I've got this covered'

'Peace I leave with you, not as the world gives…'

What has my response to these words been? Initially a booster in faith but later on down the line in morphs into a response like ‘Hmmmm ok God, thanks for that but where is the money, where is this, I feel like this etc’.

Today as I was journaling about it all, I felt like God really highlighted His heart behind His responses. He cares about all my needs and knows them better than I do and He is more than able to take care of the challenges I face and the things which I worry about and He could take care of it in an instant…but He wants me to trust Him in the storm (including anything that triggers stress) and He wants to actually have a relationship with me and for me to enjoy a relationship with Him - not for Him to just be my help or provider.
He speaks value, beauty and peace over me because He wants to spend time with me; for me to look to Him fully, to have fun with Him and in the things He wants me to be a part of and He wants me to relax.

Time to take my eyes off the tasks and the situations which surround me but look to God - having fun with Him, seeing the bigger picture behind it all and knowing that whatever happens, He works out all for the good of those who love Him.

Stressed? Talk to God about it. He is so good and desires to hold you steady and secure whatever you’re facing. You may not hear what you want to hear but you will hear what you need to hear!

Thank you God that I don’t need to worry but I can put my full trust in You, see things overcome and enjoy life on a day to day, moment to moment basis in and through You!
